Grange Fair

Location: Progress Grange Building, 217 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall, PA 16828
This bench depicts several typical scenes from the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, one of the largest public events in Centre County. The Fair just celebrated its 141st year and is one of the few large camping fairs left in the country. The Fair is an integral part of the agricultural and community history of the Penns Valley region of the county.
“Painting this bench has been a natural extension of my position for about the last eight years as the Artist in Residence at the Grange Fair. It’s a wonderful opportunity to further celebrate this unique community celebration of our regional heritage."
About the Artist:
Karl Leitzel Karl grew up in the Penns Valley area of eastern Centre County where he still lives. He has been a professional artist and sign painter most of his life and is currently the managing partner and a resident artist at the Green Drake Gallery and Arts Center in Millheim, Pa.
