This literacy-themed bench for the State College area aims to highlight the joys of self-selected leisure reading: curling up with a favorite character, staying up past bedtime reading an exciting chapter, and the bonding that can occur over the love of books. Like the Centre County Library system that inspired it, I hope this bench with more than 25 recognizable stories will be a cozy, bright, positive association with early reading that will champion the importance of leisure reading in the literacy process.
